A northern resort beside a protected lagoon.
Shëngjin, on the coast near Lezhë, is the main beach town of northern Albania — a long Adriatic sand beach backed by the Kune-Vain lagoon and, just south, the wild dunes of Rana e Hedhun.
Beach and lagoon
Shëngjin grew from a small Adriatic port (historically San Giovanni di Medua) into northern Albania's busiest summer resort. Beside it, the Kune-Vain-Tale lagoon system is a protected wetland of pine forest, channels and birdlife — a calm counterpoint to the resort strip.
Rana e Hedhun
A few kilometres south, Rana e Hedhun ('thrown sand') is a rare stretch of tall coastal dunes meeting pine forest — one of the most distinctive natural beaches on the Albanian Adriatic, reached by a short walk or by boat.
