Velipojë is the closest beach to Shkodër — a long stretch of soft Adriatic sand backed by the Buna river delta and a protected wetland. Albanians know it as a family summer destination: shallow water, low-key beach bars, and seafood lunches in the village.
The nearby Velipojë Lagoon is on the Natura 2000 list — flamingos, pelicans, and migratory birds make it worth a half-day even outside beach season.

The Buna — the river draining Lake Shkodra to the sea — reaches the Adriatic here, and the Velipojë protected landscape around its mouth mixes lagoon, dune and pine, important both for birds and for the river's clams and fish. The beach itself is long, flat and known for fine sand and gentle water.
Velipojë is primarily a domestic resort — busy with Shkodër families in summer, quiet the rest of the year. It pairs naturally with a visit to Shkodër and Lake Shkodra inland.
